Cell Phone Plan Comparisons

better cell phone plan/company/phone?

my plan with cingular is almost up. i really dont know if i want to stay with them. i really think it is too expensive. all i want is unlimited text and nights/weekends and rollover. i dont need the fancy stuff. i also want to keep my same phone number. i keep hearing about sprint and tmobile and verizon. im leaning towards tmobile. i have had few dropped calls with att but i think it is a phone issue more than a company issue. nokia has always been good with that for me. but i need a new phone because it doesnt have blue tooth. if you answer... please give specifics about what phone is good for this basic stuff, price for plans and phone, etc. i still dont see the best comparisons online for the reception and plans and phones. very inconsistent. maybe i just have to settle for being disappointed one way or another?

  1. I use verizon. it's priced similarly to at&t/cingular...but all my friends who have at&t admit that it (AT&T) sucks, while myself and friends w/verizon love verizon. i live in the suburbs...the only time i can remember not getting service is in basements but obviously no one provider has service everywhere--my friend had verizon for a few days before canceling it b/c his house happens to be at the bottom of a valley where the verizon signal doesnt reach (literally my phone has an X through the symbol when im at his house). but he gets like 3 t mobile bars there. thats THE ONLY time i recall not getting service when a friend's phone did. i mean, you might just "have to settle with being disappointed"...verizon's more expensive, t mobile is cheap but it's honestly not all that great. by "not all that great" i mean, you won't get service in most situations; with verizon i almost always have service. that being said, though, I would start cheap with t mobile and if that doesnt work out for you (you probably have like 14 days to try it out w/no obligations--but dont quote me on that) bring it back asap and get your $ back. then go for verizon and give that a shot. also, dont do prepaid (but you probably already know that). verizon prepaid takes $1 out of your account every day even if you dont use the phone, PLUS $.10/minute for all calls not to another verizon cell phone. thats a shit load of money. i personally think prepaids are scams. EDIT: oh, as for keeping your #...it might be hard to switch to t mobile then verizon while keeping your #...i mean if its that important to you, i'd skip t mobile and get verizon, there's definitely a higher chance that it will work better than tmobile. do you have any friends w/t mobile or verizon whose phones you could test out? also, go to www.tmobile.com and check out their coverage map...tells you how good the service should be in any given street!... here's the link http://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/ edit #2: as for actual phones, i've only had verizon and i've used both LG and Motorola brands. ALWAYS had bad luck with motorola (so what if they make the "Razr" and "Krzr" they are still crappy phones) and nothing but good luck with LG. Any normal LG flip phone should do it, there are TONS of them out there...just DONT GET A CHOCOLATE (OR ANY OF THOSE OTHER "OMG THIS PHONE IS AN AWESOME MUSIC PHONE" PHONES)...they are unreliable i know people with them, the touch screen is really annoying...get a regular flip phone. all the verizon phones have the same look to them now (verizon operating system) which obviously changes slightly depending on the phone's features. i just looked at the phones page on vzw.com, and id recommend any of the lg flip phones, as well as the cheap samsung ones (NOT THE WEIRD MUSIC ONE)...i know lots of ppl with samsung and they seem to be reliable.
  2. AT&T is the only company that has roll over minutes. I've never had a dropped call or a no signal and I have a basic Razr phone with unlimited nigh/weekends, rollover and text, and only pay $40 a month. I would stick with AT&T.
  3. Sprint is nationwide. porting your number can be tricky, but should be able too. The samsung M300 is a basic camera phone with bluetooth, no video or any fancy stuff. Right now it's cost is only $29.99 with a $29.99 mail in rebate. The plans start at 450 anytime minutes nights at 7pm, free nights and weekends, free long distance, free roaming capabilities, mobile to mobile with Sprint or Nextel customers. The price is $39.99 per month. Depending on where you work, you might be eligible for a monthly discount. Now this plan is not free incoming. We have many plans to choose from. We do have free incoming plan. We also just started an unlimited plan for $99.99. It includes unlimited calling, texting, and internet. One big package for a great price. Feel free to contact me if you want more info or help getting set up with Sprint. I hope this helps...
